Tandem Innovation Alliance

Helping innovators developing product-based technology businesses answer the question, “what comes next?”

What We Do

Tandem Innovation Alliance helps technology innovators through the development and operation of communities of common interest, by delivering opportunities for revenue and federal funding and providing experiential education to develop the skills necessary for business growth and expansion.

TandemNSI

We operate the TandemNSI innovation community. TandemNSI is a national network of over 5,000 innovators and entrepreneurs that are eager to tackle the nation’s toughest challenges. TandemNSI works with government agencies and the nation’s top innovators to discover new solutions to the nation’s toughest challenges. TandemNSI has worked with DARPA, the Department of Homeland Security, Army Research Laboratory, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, the Department of Energy and many leading universities to promote higher engagement between innovators and national security research and development.

Capital CoLab

We work in partnership with the Capital CoLAB (Collaborative of Leaders in Academia and Business), a first-of-its-kind alliance of university and business leaders who have come together to take action to strengthen the Greater Washington region, spanning Baltimore to Richmond, to position the region as a leading global hub for innovation. The Capital CoLab is currently focused on two major initiatives. The first will create unique regionwide credentials to increase the quantity and quality of digital technology talent emerging from local undergraduate programs. The second is to showcase the region’s leadership in important digital technology innovation through events and experiences.

Tandem Product Academy

The Tandem Product Academy is an experiential and professional educational program that will give the leaders of existing technology product companies the skills they need to take their business from its first few customers to an expanding sales pipeline. It is a part-time program, with Saturday and evening sessions taking place over a four-month semester. An award-winning teaching team drawn from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and successful and well-known technology entrepreneurs anchor the faculty. This is not a program with "victory lane entrepreneurs" telling war stories. It is a professionally run program to challenge participants and make them smarter about the things they need to succeed.
